Catholic Deacon Claims Jesus Tolerates Abortion Because He “Didn’t Preach Against Abortion”
A Kentucky deacon of the Catholic Church recently told his YouTube viewers that Jesus “didn’t preach against abortion at all,” suggesting the son of God did not care as much about the problem as the modern church.
According to the Church Militant, Deacon Steve Hester implied that Jesus “was either supportive or indifferent to abortion” because he did not speak against it, even though abortions have been a problem throughout history.
Hester, who serves St. Paul Catholic Church in Lexington, Kentucky, posted a YouTube video on Nov. 3 to discuss abortion and other issues.
“Now Jesus didn’t preach against abortion at all,” he told viewers. “Now I don’t know why He didn’t. I don’t believe He thought killing babies was OK.
“And rest assured there was abortion back then. People have been figuring out how to end pregnancy early since they figured out what pregnancy was. So it’s not as if He was unaware. But maybe He didn’t preach against abortion because He knew that safe sex and education rather than legislation are the actual way to reduce abortions,” Hester continued.
“But He also knew that we wouldn’t end up believing in safe sex or education. So, it was a moot point. You’ll have to ask Him when you get there,” he said.
His statements cloud Christian teachings, which clearly condemn the killing of innocent life.

My Thoughts on this Article From Life
It doesn’t get much more ridiculous than this. How can a Catholic Deacon try to convince anybody that Jesus “was either supportive or indifferent to abortion”?
Sure, I buy that abortion has been around ever since pregnancy or close to it, but I don’t believe the silence from Jesus on the issue means he was indifference or supportive of killing babies.
There is No Love Found in Abortion
Obviously, Mr. Steve Hester (I won’t call him a Deacon anymore) doesn’t understand what abortion is and what it does to, not just the baby, but also the parents.
This non-Catholic posing as a Catholic goes on to say he, the following:
“And rest assured there was abortion back then. People have been figuring out how to end pregnancy early since they figured out what pregnancy was. So it’s not as if He was unaware. But maybe He didn’t preach against abortion because He knew that safe sex and education rather than legislation are the actual way to reduce abortions.”
First of all, it’s absurd to even mention the possibility of Jesus being unaware as He is God. Second, Jesus would never stand for “safe sex” as we describe it today. The ONLY safe sex okay with God is that between a Married Man and Woman. No exceptions!
A Catholic Deacon should know this and get it right every single time without hesitation.
The article gets the teachings of the Catholic Church on the issue correct:
“The Catholic Church teaches that every human life is valuable from conception to natural death, and the Bible recognizes that babies in the womb are valuable. The story of Jesus’ own birth includes references to unborn babies and their value.”
More From the Video
Not only does Mr. Hester talk about Jesus’ stance on Abortion, but he also asks the question, “would Jesus be swayed by attack ads?”
This is a ridiculous question and I urge Mr. Hester to go back to reading the Gospels. Jesus was tempted by satan three times, which is far more tempting than any attack ad. Jesus also knows the truth already because HE IS GOD. Unlike us humans, He can see right through attack ads and the political crap we cannot see through.
At least he admits he has no idea how Jesus would vote and he at least admits Jesus would know the true heart of every candidate. Still, it’s a ridiculous question to even ask.
If you go by the Gospel reading he’s referring to with the Two Greatest Commandments, it makes no sense that he would then decide Jesus “was either supportive or indifferent to abortion”. How does abortion show love for God or for thy neighbor?
Alluding to Homosexuality Being Okay
While Mr. Hester didn’t come right out and say it, he certainly alluded to Homosexuality being okay and even accepted by Jesus. I think he needs to realize, Jesus didn’t teach on who we should marry because God already made it very clear when he created Eve for Adam. He didn’t create Steve for Adam, but Eve.
Personally, I don’t have a problem with questioning things, as Mr. Hester is doing, but I don’t think someone that would confuse the truth and the teachings of the Catholic church is fit to be a Deacon or take on any leadership role within the church.
