Instant Family – My New Favorite Movie
2018 Nov 28 By Saul Staples 0 comment

5 Reasons to Go See ‘Instant Family’ I walked out of the theater surprised after viewing the new movie “Instant Family,” starring silver-screen heavyweights Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne as foster parents.  It was not what I expected. The film features Wahlberg as Pete and Byrne as Ellie, an upper-middle-class married couple who decide on a whim to foster three children—Lita, Juan, and Lizzy—played by Julianna Gamiz, Gustavo Quiroz, and Isabela Moner. As someone who has volunteered with multiple adoption and foster advocacy organizations over the years, I have learned a lot about the challenges of bringing foster children into…

Mike Espy Needs to be Defeated & Put in Jail

Pro-Abortion Mississippi Senate Candidate Mike Espy Took Money From Dictator Who Raped, Killed His Own People It’s bad enough that Mississippi Senate candidate Mike Epsy is pro-abortion and supports abortion up to birth. But his pro-death views apparently extend beyond that. According to new reports, Espy took $750,000 from an African dictator who raped and killed his own people. Espy faces pro-life Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith in a special runoff campaign. As NewsBusters reports: The final race of the 2018 midterms will be held next Tuesday in Mississippi between Republican favorite Cindy Hyde-Smith and Democrat Mike Espy. The liberal media have…

End Times for The United States are Near

American’t: From midterms to end times Truly great disasters come like a thief in the night. How many foresaw Rome’s sacking in 410 A.D., her collapse 66 years later, WWI or WWII? As for today, how many see that the United States is at what some call a tipping point, what others may call a Fourth Turning? Whatever you call it, the American republic is in its last days. This is too scary for many to contemplate, but there’s something far scarier: playing ostrich and not being prepared for things to come. The so-called Left, ever violent since its French Revolution…

My Christian Catholic Journey: Birth Through Confirmation
2018 Nov 25 By Saul Staples 0 comment

For most of us born into a Catholic family, it all starts with baptism. While I don’t remember my baptism, I know how important it was and is today. However, as a child, I had no idea how important it was and even as a young adult, I had no clue. Being born into a Catholic family doesn’t mean you even know what the word Catholic means. I don’t know if something happened to cause parents (at least mine) during the 1980s and 1990s to forget to teach their children the true meaning of the word “Catholic” but I know…

CDC: Number of Abortions in the U.S. Have Hit a Record Low Abortion rates are the lowest they’ve been in a decade, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Abortions that were reported from 2006 to 2015 in participating areas fell 24 percent, from 842,855 to 638,169. The number fell more dramatically among teens ages 15 to 19. It decreased 54 percent from 2006 to 2015, the CDC pointed out. “This decrease in abortion rate was greater than the decreases for women in any older age group,” they said in a statement. The report does have its limitations…

Is the Migrant Caravan Filled with Criminals?
2018 Oct 30 By Saul Staples 0 comment

The migrant caravan, which has been met with threats from Donald Trump, is the result of poverty, growing crime and repression in Honduras. The US has played a key role in propping up the government of Juan Orlando Hernández, who was responsible for the coup in the country. (NewsClick) For the thousands of Hondurans who are part of a migrant caravan proceeding towards the United States, the recent comments by US president Donald Trump were yet another instance of the persecution they have faced while trying to escape horrible living conditions. On Monday, Trump threatened the countries the migrants passed…

Apu from The Simpsons Getting the Boot
2018 Oct 29 By Saul Staples 0 comment

Apu the longtime Kwik-E-Mart owner on The Simpsons is closing up shop. A popular character will be written out of the long-running animated series “The Simpsons” after some viewers complained of it being a racially insensitive caricature. Does this mean the Kwik-E-Mart will go out of business? For nearly three decades, Apu was the Indian manager of this local convenience store in the show’s fictional town. Controversy started to brew last year with Hari Kondabolu’s documentary The Problem with Apu. It condemned the show’s use of stereotypical mannerisms and lifestyle of Indians from South Asia. “The Simpsons” creator Matt Groening rebuked the controversy, disagreeing…

“It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.” -Deuteronomy 13:4 Quick Thoughts on Deuteronomy 13:4 Not much to say about today’s passage as it’s pretty clear. Deuteronomy is one of those books many don’t read because it’s not as fun or as easy to read. However, it’s still important and this is one of my favorite passages from the book. We are reminded today that the Lord in heaven is the one we must follow and obey. While following Christ means…

“For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”—2 Corinthians 10:3-5 Quick Thoughts on 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 We battle evil in this world every single day. We didn’t wage the war, but it’s up to us to follow Christ and use the weapons He…

“How great you are, O Sovereign Lord! There is no one like you, and there is no God but you, as we have heard with our own ears.” – 2 Samuel 7:22 Quick Thoughts on 2 Samuel 7:22 A powerful verse we should all remember. Sometimes, I think we tend to forget how great the Lord really is. We can get so caught up in the world around us that we forget to stop and remember how great our Lord in Heaven is and how nothing should come before God. In a modern society filled with so many distractions, it can…
