1 Peter 5:8-9

“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.”—1 Peter 5:8-9

Quick Thoughts on 1 Peter 5:8-9

How true this is…the devil and his demons are always ready to pounce whenever we open the door. When we start to get down on ourselves, we get angry, we feel out of control or any time we are weak, the devil is ready to kick us while we are down.

Remember, the devil isn’t stupid. He’s one of the most cunning creatures ever and he’s ready to make you bow to his will. You must resist, as we are told in this verse and you must remain faithful to Christ. You’re not alone in your walk of faith with Christ.

Today’s Prayer

Pray my brothers and sisters that Jesus Christ will provide the protection we need to resist the temptations of the devil. Pray you will become stronger in your faith every day and you will become more resistant to the devil and his demons. We pray this prayer in the name of Jesus Christ in Heaven. Amen.

NOTE: Please make sure to read the entire chapter today’s verse was taken from to ensure you understand the full context of the verse. It’s very easy to take one verse or even a couple of verses out of context and understand the words to mean something they really don’t mean.
