“Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”—1 Peter 2:9
Quick Thoughts on 1 Peter 2:9
Boy how this verse hits home. Once I was lost and now I am found is the story of my life and this verse from 1 Peter puts it right in our faces again. We cannot be a people or be found without Christ in our lives. We must have Christ or we are lost.
It’s so important for us to remember every single day that we live in a lost world seeking to be found. While some may tell you they believe they are not lost, without Christ, they are lost. Anything they think they are filling the void with is just a distraction from Satan.
Our most noble calling as Christians is to help others become found. Help them become the people of God and help them receive the mercy only God provides.
Lord in Heaven, I pray you will make me an instrument of yours to spread your good news through my words and my actions. When I don’t have the courage to speak your good name, help me to show your love so I can reach more people and help them become found. In your son’s name Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
