CDC: Number of Abortions in the U.S. Have Hit a Record Low

Abortion rates are the lowest they’ve been in a decade, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Abortions that were reported from 2006 to 2015 in participating areas fell 24 percent, from 842,855 to 638,169.

The number fell more dramatically among teens ages 15 to 19. It decreased 54 percent from 2006 to 2015, the CDC pointed out.

“This decrease in abortion rate was greater than the decreases for women in any older age group,” they said in a statement.

The report does have its limitations since reporting is voluntary and requirements vary from state to state.

The number of abortions reported to the CDC is just 68-71 percent of the number established in a census of abortion providers by the Guttmacher Institute, a pro-abortion research and policy group, the report acknowledged.

The CDC also noted that “three of the 52 reporting areas (California, Maryland, and New Hampshire) did not provide CDC data for 2006–2015 on a consistent annual basis.”

Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood director turned pro-life advocate, had a mixed reaction to the survey.

“It’s always good news when abortions decline but these numbers are hard to take seriously when the state that performs the most abortions is not included in the report,” she commented due to her own experience with California’s high abortion rate.

My thoughts on this story from Town Hall

End Abortion

Yes, the abortion rate is lower than it has been in a decade, which is a start, but it’s not a win. For true pro-life activists, which SHOULD BE EVERY Christian, Catholic, and Moral Person on the planet, this isn’t good enough.

We cannot stop pushing, praying, hoping, and taking action until the number is ZERO. Babies don’t deserve to be killed in the womb and I personally don’t trust the CDC, so forgive me if I take these stats with a grain of salt.

Are the Stats Due to the Plan B Pill and Other Forms of Birth Control?

My next question when seeing an article like this is why? Are these stats due to more women using the Plan B Pill and other forms of birth control?

As a Catholic, I believe every form of birth control is a sin and basically murder. When you don’t allow God to create life, yet you want to enjoy the pleasure of sex, you’re sinning, period.

Life is the first commandment we are given at the very beginning when Adam and Eve are told to “Be Fruitful and Multiply…” (Genesis 1:28).

When we don’t allow for life, it’s just as bad as taking a life.

I don’t see why it’s so hard for some Christians and some that call themselves Catholics to see how precious life is and why birth control of any type (including vasectomies, tube typing, contraceptives, condoms, etc.) is wrong and goes directly against one of the ten commandments.

I am happy to see the so-called abortion numbers are down, but I will remain vigilant until the number is zero. Keep up the good fight against this horrific form of genocide happening right in the most powerful first world countries in the world.
